“Sh-h-h, honey, the game’s on,” Ray said.
“Oh, sorry.” I kissed his cheek.
“I said later,” Ray growled.
God, what a pain. All I’d done was kiss his cheek. He acted like I’d turned the TV off or something.
“Sports, sports, I want to watch sports,” he told me — like a broken record.
It was just an excuse. He used the same one night after night for weeks on end. All I was supposed to do was keep my distance.
